In February I purchased my first wireless router, a Netgear WGT624v2 router.
I have two desktops running Windows XP Professional and one laptop, also
running Windows XP Professional. The two desktops connect to the router via
RJ-45 connections, and the laptop uses a wireless connection.
About two weeks after getting the router it started causing problems. The
laptop and the two desktops started to be disconnected from the network.
Finally, yesterday after spending a couple of hours on the phone with
Netgear technical support to solve the problem and have it only two 2 hours
before it completed failed again, I decided to take it back where I
purchased it and exchange it for another one.
Today, I finished putting the new Netgear WGT624v2 router into place. I've
downloaded the latest firmware and installed it. I have the router away
from our home's wireless phone set and away from the computers. It is about
5 feet away from anything electronic at all. And yet, this brand new router
is beginning to exhibit the same problems.
What's wrong? What's going on, and what, if anything, can I do about it?
