The other day I bought an NAS Netgear SC101.
I installed 1 HD, downloaded and installed the latest management
software as mentioned in the doc (scm_3_0_6_setup.exe)from www.netgear.com.
Leds on the device turn on normal (disk, power and network)
No problem so far.

One error: the management software cannot find the device!!
I would like to give the NAS a fixed IP address, OP mask and gateway
address.

I can see via a sniffer that the device (with MAC address
00-18-4D-xx-xx-xx = netgear)received via an DHCP server an IP address.
I can ping to that IP address.

My system is an Microsoft Wondows XP Professional with SP3.
I have disabled all Firewall software.

thank you, gabriël

snip...

You have my sympathy.

I too have an SC101 -- it is in the junk box in a basement closet. Horrible
design. Horrible software. Horrible support. But the good news is that if a
person was unfortunate enough to own _two_ SC101s with two drives installed
in each, they might serve as a makeshift panini press although a lot of
care would be required to keep from incinerating the sandwich pressed
between them.
