I am trying to get Netdom to work from a VB routine that did work in
Windows 2K but will not work in Windows XP. Has anyone else had any
problems getting this to work? Does anyone know if the API has
changed? Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi

Are you using the netdom.exe that comes with Win2k?

There is a newer version of netdom.exe in "Support Tools" kit for WinXP that
does not work on Win2k. On a Win2k computer it will err with the message "The
procedure entry point NetAddAlternateComputerName could not be located in the
dynamic link library NETAPI32.dll.". This indicates that it has been an API
change or something.

If you want do use a netdom.exe that works on both Win2k and WinXP, I think the
one that comes with Windows Server 2003 is fine.
