Is anyone familiar with the networkable Netdisk by Ximeta?

I just set one up last night. I had some initial performance issues in
Ethernet mode, but after resetting all equipment and upgrading my
router/switch's firmware it worked well with expected performance
(about the same as copying from one PC to another on the network).

I then started some stress tests (i.e. copying gigabytes of data to
the drive). Unfortunately, I cannot say all is well. Not one of my
copies made it all the way through. The connection to the drive would
drop at seemingly random times (message indicating it was powered off
abnormally). This could be a software or hardware issue. I'm going to
follow-up with the Ximeta. If this can be resolved, I'll give it a
thumbs up. Stay tuned.

Ximeta posted a new driver (2.1.4 Beta 2) which resolves the issue. I
can now copy large amounts of data reliably to and from the drive over
an Ethernet or USB connection.

One caveat: With the current software, only ONE USER AT A TIME has
write access to the drive (all others have read-only access). Users
request write access via the NetDisk system tray application. If
another user (IP address) has write access, the software asks if you
want to take write access away from the other machine. I have been
told by Ximeta tech support that "multi write sharing" beta is
scheduled to be released end of October.

A few questions -

1. Is hyperthreading still an issue? If so, will disabling
hyperthreading resolve this?

2. The FAQ says "NetDisk must also be used with a
100mb/full duplex capable switch." Not sure what this means - ???

3. Any issues in using this for backups? Is there backup software
included?

Thanks!
