I've run into a Win2K box that won't talk to the rest of my workgroup. When
I do an IPCONFIG /ALL, I see "NetBIOS over TCPIP ... Disabled" even though
the WINS dialog box says it's enabled. I tried to toggle it, but I can't
get it to do so. I checked the logon account and, yes, it's an
administrator.
So I installed NetBEUI on the box and another box (also Win2K) to test if
that would help. Sadly, it did nothing. I went looking for a hidden
software firewall program. Nothing obvious found. Before I came here, I
checked all the subject lines in this group for "NetBT" and "NetBIOS."
Nothing appears to talk about my problem. I also went on a long search via
Google. No help there, either.
Normally I'd swap out a cheap NIC, but this one is a 3COM 3C920.
What am I doing wrong? I should be able to toggle NetBT into an "enabled"
state just by selecting it. TIA.
