I have a friend who i talk to on the net so i can't try this first hand, she has a new net book but it's asking her to firstly make a recovery disk, the netbook doesn't have a disc drive so can she use a flash drive ? if it's needed would the netbook boot from this ? or would connecting her laptop by usb to usb cable enable her to burn the disc ? again would the netbook boot from this ?
Thanks guys.

RTFM :)

The Netbook manual will let you know if a usb stick will suffice as a recovery disk, maybe, maybe not, you'll have to read the instructions.

If not, and a CD-R or DVD-R disc is required as far as I'm aware the laptop and netbook will not be able to make a recovery disk connected via a usb cable. It may be possible if they're networked, if both have wireless and they can see each other, it's a possibility - read the instructions.

You may also be able to connect both machines if they're both loaded with Windows using a mirror-image ethernet cable.

Other than that an external disk writer drive is thirty quid from PC World and elsewhere.

Ta for that will recomend the external drive she doesn't understand computer stuff.
