I may be in the market for a Netbook and if you've had any experience with them perhaps you could share that experience?
Two years ago I installed a public address system to a sports building in a local school. The Amplifier is made by Bosch and is computer programable for different sound signals, pre-recorded messages, zoning and the like. I used my mate's laptop to program it vis USB port. The Bosch software only works with Windows, not Linux or Macs.
Recently the school asked me to look at the system as the fire alarm wasn't working on the three loudspeakers in the main sports hall but it was working everywhere else. I immediately suspected a severed speaker line or perhaps somebody had turned down the local volume control.
But no, the microphone worked in the main sports hall, which proved speakers and cable were all ok.
So I rather suspect a software glitch and that maybe the FA signal is no longer selected for that zone.
So, rather than using my mate's laptop, I'm thinking about buying a netbook for myself. But at the moment I really have no use for it other than programming amplifiers which to be honest I don't do a great deal of.
Rather than a full blown laptop I'd rather something smaller, more portable, presumably longer battery life and all I'd use it for apart from what I've already mentioned is office, internet and work stuff. So it doesn't have to be a powerhouse.
I like the look of the Samsung and Toshiba models, they're priced netween £250.00 and £310.00 at laptops Direct UK. I was wondering if anybody had bought anything cheaper and had good results?
Anyhow, all comments, recommendations, observations, whatever, are welcome
Oh, and I'm not interested in Acer products
Not sure if owning a Netbook would be worth it but I am thinking about it.
