NetBios Problem

When trying to share files with a friend remotely, so
I can view his hard drive and use it as I have limited
space on mine, I can't seem to do it anymore, whereas I
used to be able to.
I can use the nbtstat -a \\IP_address command to get
the computers "netbios local name table", and I can see
that he still has file sharing enabled as there is a <20>
in the table. But when I use net view \\IP_address, Error
1231 - "The network location cannot be reached" occurs.
Also, the net use x: \\IP_address\share_name doesn't work
either.
This never used to happen, but it has now and I have
searched everywhere to find a soultion/

Any ideas?

Hi,

Check to make sure TCP/IP NetBIOS helper service is started on both
computers. See 817770 mapping with FQDN name fail with error 53 or 1231
