Having upgraded a number of NT4 workstations to W2K Pro, I
now find they are not listed in the Explorer view. Do
they need Netbeui installed to be visible ? Dedicated,
not upgraded W2K Pro machines do not exhibit this
problem. Any advice gratefully acted upon

Thanx

Hi

Don't confuse NetBIOS and NetBEUI. They are not the same.

Forget that NetBEUI ever existed. Installing it is not a good idea at all.

NetBIOS, on the other hand, if it is not enabled will prevent computers
appearing in Network Neighborhood. There is an option in the TCP/IP
configuration to switch NetBIOS on, off, or to make it take its setting from
the DHCP-provided configuration. Check, also, that the "Computer Browser"
service is started.

Also check that the correct WINS entries are present and that the IP
configuration of the machine is correct. With any luck, you're using DHCP
throughout, so this should not be a consideration.

Hope this helps

Oli
