Hello,

I am running a Windows 2000 Server with Service Pack 4. Every time I boot the server, I receive a Duplicate name on the network error message. It effectively shuts down my NetBIOS over TCP/IP transport, so it kills my WINS. Here's the deal, I don't have any duplicate names to speak of. I checked users, workstations, groups, etc. Please help me try to figure out where the duplicate name is coming from.

Unplug all network cables from your hub/switch, then see if the problem still occurs. Next, plug them in one by one until the proble returns.

Thank you, but I had all ready tried that. I got help from MS Tech Support. Turns out (and I beat myself over the head for missing this one) that a Windows 98 workstation had its workgroup set to the same name as the name of the domain controller. So you can see why this problem was occurring. Thank you for your help in this Pegasus. It is much appreciated.
