NetBEUI to TCPIP gateway

Hi Everybody

I have the folowing scenario:

- a DOS client running NetBEUI (old computer conected to a TOKEN RING
network)
-a bridge between the TOKEN RING network (16 Mbs) and Ethernet TCPIP

-the bridge is also gateway because it seems that it makes the
traslation between NETBEUI and TCPIP (it's like a black box for us
because we have no password for that)

The idea is to replace that box with a RRAS server that I know that can
handle the Gateway function for Dial Up clients.

My question for you is this : Is there any way I can make the server
(RRAS) belive he is talking to a Dial-Up Client when he is talking to
the above mentioned machine (the DOS client ) ?

Any other solution for a NETBEUI to TCPIP gateway is welcome. The
tunneling of NETBEUI is out of question here because
that means I have to add NETBEUI as protocol to all the servers that
speak with this server.

Thank you

Inc - there's no such think as a netbeui to tcp-ip gateway - because you can't
translate between the two.

What you have there is a translational bridge, but the "translational" bit
refers to converting from ethernet to token-ring. It won't know about the
layer-3+ protocols involved - i.e. it will happily pass both netbeui and
tcp-ip.

If you don't want netbeui on the servers, then your only choice is to load
tcp-ip on the dos client. That's perfectly possible as there are various
tcp-ip drivers you can load. The Microsoft one was known as Tcp-ip for Lan
Manager/DOS. It's probably still available for download.
