Netbeui over PPOE

If you're trying to talk to workgroup or domain machines
over PPPOE what should be enabled is NetBIOS over TCP-
IP. NetBEUI works pretty well for local networks but it
stops at the first router it hits - NetBEUI is a
nonroutable protocol.

If you can share a little more of what you're trying to
do maybe we can help you figure it out :)

I am trying to connnect to my exchange server. It
appears that I need to have this protocal installed in
order for the system to resolve the domain name.

NetBEUI is NOT a routable protocol and is going to
be utterly useless in trying to reach an Exchange Server.
Forget about NetBEUI concerning this issue.
Supply some more information as to EXACTLY what
the issue is.

.
When configuring the client end if I specify the IP
address of the server the outlook will connect and
authenticate the user. In the process is resolves the IP
to a network name. If I run the check name again using
the netowrk name I get a message saying host cannot be
found. I have been able to resolve this in the past on a
windows 2000 pc by adding the netbeui protocol. How do I
fix this??

This procedure does not work when you want to install
install the Netbeui protocol on the PPOE.
