At one time I had installed netbeui on my Sony laptop. I
have since change my network configuration and want to
remove netbeui.

Here is the problem. After removing netbeui the computer
goes crazy. Explorer is running (verified in the
processes in the task manager) and consumes all of the
resources until the system crashes.

I am trying to replace netbeui with IPX.

How can I get rid of the netbeui beast?

Fred,

remove all networking components, reboot, then install those
again that you want. Normally you want neither NetBEUI nor IPX,
but only one transport protocol: TCP/IP.

Please have a look at http://www.michna.com/kb/WxNetwork.htm for
more details.
