net view

Hi.

5 WinXP SP3 machines permanently are in a LAN. They all have fix IP
addresses.

When I say "net view", the results vary greatly. Sometimes it shows me
only 1 computer, sometimes all 5. No scheme detectable.

Why is that?

Otherwise, the network works just fine.

Does nobody know this answer or was the question not clear (shall I

Does the visibility vary as different computers are turned off or on? Or
completely randomly?

Take a look at logs from "browstat status", "ipconfig /all", "net config
server", and "net config workstation", from each computer, and diagnose the
problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions
precisely (download browstat as noted):
