I am trying to use net send inside of our lab. I can not seem to send or even
get a confirmation message that it is working. I so see a screen come up but
it immediately disappears and no message is sent. Can someone help me with
this problem. I am running WinXP PRO

Greetings cwood,

The Messenger Service is by default disabled in SP2 (not to mention the firewall is on so it
wouldn't receive them anyway). You'll need to turn the service back on (click Start, then
Run, type "services.msc" and click OK) and make sure the firewall isn't on (which probably
won't be an issue since you're in a lab).

we do not have SP2 loaded and the only firewall we have is the perimeter
firewall at the main office.
the services are on automatic and I have now gotten to the point that I get
the error message 2273

none of the computers I try to send message to recieve the message they all
come back with the error message 2273.
They are logged on and available to the network since I can access anything
else on thier drives or look for thier computer on the network. What else
would make this not work?
