Net Send is slow

I just reimage my laptop with Windows 2000 and loaded
sp4. I use the net send command to talk with other
workers. It was functioning fine for about 2 months and
now when I type a message and send it it takes about 30
seconds to process. I have no idea why all of a sudden it
started doing it. I know it is something on my local PC
because it works for other people just fine. Any
suggestions as to what might be causing this?

Thanks

Possible DNS issue, machine may need to be reregistered,
try to net send to the target's IP address and see if it
improves.

It is still slow when I Net Send to the target' IP
address. Do you know if IPSEC could be causing this
problem?

If it takes long to resolve name and network address, try to remove
redundant network protocols except TCP/IP from all the machines in
your networks.
WINS installation might resolve your problem

Certainly, if you have an IPSec policy for peer-to-peer connection
(with a pre-shared password for example) then establishing a
connection will take more time. I can suggest you to create an IPSec
filter for SMB connections to exclude it from the IPSec, or to
establish centralized policy using Kerberos.

At our office we successfully using WinMessenger (very elegant
WinPopup alternative from http://www.winpopup.com) with IPSec without
any problems, so, I think (but not sure) standard Messenger service
can be configured in the same way, becuase WinMessenger is completely
compatible with 'net send'.

Good luck!
