I have a user with XP SP2 that can send messages using the
net send command, but cannot receive messages. There are
two computers trying to send messages. One computer is
using 2000 and the other is using XP w/o SP2. The error
that they get is "An error occurred while sending a
message to <computername>-The message alias could not be
found on the network.-More help is available by typing NET
HELPMSG2273. We have started and stopped the messenger
service on all computers involved. We have also checked
the netbios on all of the computers to make sure all
computer names are registered. This problem started after
the SP2 was installed. Any suggestion's?

We do have a firewall, but all three computers are on the
same network. Nothing is leaving the network. Would a
firewall still prevent that? And it worked before, its
just after one computer upgraded to SP2 is when it stopped.

Is WinXP's built-in firewall enabled on the computer that cannot
receive the messages?
