Net Send command.

Sorry if this question has been asked before. I don't have an easy way to
search previous questions.

I can use "net send" from a command prompt to send messages to others on my
network. The problem is at their end they see the message from my machine
name, not my lan name. My lan name is already an alias for my machine name.
Is there a way to make the messages use my lan name/alias instead of the
machine name

That odd because I have two third-party utilities that use 'net send' do
exactly that. I'm trying to do the same from the command line because I find
the utilities too slow.

Sorry for a second response. The net send command also understands aliases
in the 'to name' portion. That is, I type 'net send jbsmith ...', not 'net
send LDC-456342-D ...'.

Perhaps it is the messenger service that needs to be configured to use my
alias as the 'from' name

The /messenger/ service, which is what net send uses, may
be able to do so.

The net send command, itself, only uses computer names.
