Stephen

i have just got xp and when i signed on to msn it asked
if i wanted it associated with my windows xp user log in,
i did this but have since changed my mind and do not want
this happening. i tried adding another log in so the old
one would not show up but now the old passport log in
shows as having 3 unred e-mails from the first account
even though i have read them.

What can i do to stop any of my hotmail e-mails showing
in the switch users info?

Obtain and install the Windows XP version of TweakUI. Download it from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

Open TweakUI (it's in Start -> Programs -> Powertoys for Windows XP).
To disable unread mail notification:
Click "Logon" > Unread mail > uncheck ""Show unread mail on Welcome
Screen"

To reset the entry in registry: Goto "Repair" > Repair Unread Mail Count
and click "Repair Now"
To un-associate the .NET accounts from the user profile.

Click Start, Run, and type "Control Userpasswords2"
Click "Advanced", "Manage Passwords"
Remove the entries from the accounts list.

Disable Storage of Credentials and .NET Passwords

To stop the Unread Mail message on the logon screen
go>start\run and type in regedit and then navigate this
route.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
\UnreadMail. Now right click on UnreadMail and then click
permissions and click the users one at a time and put a
check mark in "deny" in all instances. Then close out and
voila no more unread mail warning. Have fun.

Hi Stephan,

Go to Start/Run and type in: control userpasswords2. Advanced/Manage

Tip:

Add Control Userpasswords2 to the Control Panel (Line 1)
