I can not install new hp 4215 all-in-one printer. Chatted with hp they told
me .net was not correct version. Gave me link to correct version. Can not
install, and get error 2908 internal error message. I am obviously a novice
and need to get this resolved. It is final's week at DeVry and I am online
student. No time for this. HELP.

As you know, I don't use OE, Virgin Net, or live in the UK. I just found
the spoof this morning. I need to report this to John Eddy, unless you
have a better idea.

Malke (the real one, as you can tell from my headers)

In the meantime, save everything as a file. HP May not be able to solve the
problem. I just went thru two weeks with HP, and it wasn't until several other
programs started doing the same stuff that it became apparent it wasn't related
to HP. Just happened I was installing the HP when the OS decided to start self
destructing.

Wasn't till I'd replaced the Liteon [less than a year old] DVD, installed a new
300 gig HD, and reformatted and reinstalled the OS did the HP install
correctly.

If you've done any rollbacks, or reinstalled the OS since the original install,
[reinstalls of the OS primarily] you WILL get system instability. Small print
notice when reinstalling the OS [this may cause instability] IOW it's a crap
shoot.

I've found that .net from the OS is ignored by the PSC 1315 printer. Even
though it says it's the same version. Only thing you might try is to uninstall
ALL the .net from add/remove section. then try and install the printer again.

Let the printer set its own software up.
Also if [most likely] you're having trouble removing old HP stuff, use the
stuff from the util/ccc directory. The batch uninstall file. Mine had 4 steps
to completely remove stuff.

The OS itself was the problem on my end.

Is this person retarded?
They are trying to spoof themselves as the real Malke and post using OE from
their own home.
They are so ignorant they don't realise they are telling us all who they
are.

Do you think just putting a false email address hides you?
I wonder what the weather is like in Birmingham UK?
I expect your account will be terminated, what a shame.

Excuse me? I hope you are not talking about me!
Thanks for the advise RICK. I will give it a try. I tried downloading (last
night) from the hp web site, additional software updates. No luck. I am
taking it back for a Canon.

Hi,

Actually, Mark was talking about the person trying to impersonate Malke,
they were doing a fairly poor job of it.
