The latest update won't install. How can I remove that from the MS Update
site so I won't keep getting nagged to install it?

Pay a Visit to MS site updates and run the Update engine then select
*Custom* instead of the * Express* Option and there Uncheck the Check box and
also the Sub-check box to not remind you again.
Hope this which you are after.

Bypas the windows update PITA and download/install directly.

hello there, just wondering what is the best net framework is to download
there are so many choices i dont understand them i,m doing this for my
printer esp3 all in one and it tell me i need this net frame work

There is only one .Net framework and it comes from Windows Update. There
are several versions of it, but you don't need to worry about that:
Windows Update will give you what you need.

I think version 1.1 is fundamental, and some apps need 2.0 (and maybe a few
recent apps even need the newer versions - I don't have any of those).

If the program requires it, it will let you know, and either come with it as
part of its setup package, or attempt to download it from MS.

During the software installation doesn't it mention which version you need?
Most applications that require .Net Framework usually include it as part of
the
installation process.

If not please post an error message or requirement to
install .net framework that pops up during the software installation.

There's no real answer to that, as the three or four or five versions are
different things. That is, version 2 does not "upgrade" version 1 or 1.1,
and version 3 doesn't "upgrade" version 1, 1.1, or 2.

Apps that need .NET may need version 1, or they may need version 1.1, or
version 2 or 3, or 3.5. You can't install the "latest" and be covered.

The printer installer documentation (readme) should mention what version you
need. Or, you can just go and install them if you aren't extremely low on
drive space. Having installed them should not slow your system down - they
will only be called by things that need them.

Are you asking what version to install?

There's no answer to that question, because it's not necessarily a question
of one or the other. The .net frameworks are used to support programs
written with .net, and each program generally needs the appropriate
framework. So you may need several or all of them.

You essentially have two good choices: either install them all, or install
none until you install a program that needs one you don't have; when that
happens you will be prompted to install what's needed.
