.net framework1.1 installation failure

the program will download but will not install. There is
an installation failure about 4 seconds after it starts.
No message with the failure. I need to know why it will
not install
 
I had a failure to install the .NET Redistribuable 1.1 on a brand new XP
machine. Unlike you I had an error message saying something like "this is
the beta 3 version of 1.0, remove it before installation".

I removed .NET 1.0 from the machine and 1.1 installed.
