The .net framework is a runtime file used by programs written with .net. If
you have and want to run such a program, you normally need to have the
appropriate version (1.0, 2.0, 3.0) of the .net framework for it.

More and more such programs are being released all the time, so I recommend
that you keep all of these installed, so you don't have to worry about
having them when you need them. They take up a very small amount of disk
space.

You can get the .net 2.0 framework here:

..NET Framework 2.0 is available from the Windows Update site
when you click on the Custom button. Once Windows Update
finishes checking your computer click on Software, Optional in
the left hand column. It can now be selected in the right hand
pane.

If you're unable to install it via Windows Update, you can
download it here.

Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package
(x86)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...cb-4362-4b0d-8edd-aab15c5e04f5&DisplayLang=en

Click on the Download button and save the file to a handy
location on your computer such as your Desktop. Once you've
installed .NET Framework 2.0, go to Windows Update. There are
two security updates for this version of the .NET Framework.

FYI, you could have found all of this info by doing a Google
search for .NET Framework 2.0.

Good luck
