I am running XP Pro (upgraded from Me) and want to install Drive Image 7
from Power Quest,
which requires .NET Framework.

When I try to install .NET Framwork from the Windows Update, it apparently
downloads OK and starts to install and then gives me a "failed to install"
message.

When I try to install it from the Drive Image 7 CD, it starts to install
..NET and then gives me the error message "Setup cannot access Windows
Installer components. Setup cannot continue."

I have tried both several times and searched the MS and Power Quest web
sites to no avail. I have successfully installed lots of other stuff.

I found a hint on the web to copy msi.dll from windows/system32 to
windows/system
but it didn't work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

eeewww upgrades are dodgy... yes driveimage 7 does require .net framework.
would say that go to www.microsoft.com/downloads and get the .net runtime...
try installing it from hdd... if not take use older version of
driveimage... 5 wasnt based on .net...

good luck... if i were you i would just copy the important files on another
machine or take a file back up on disc and then clean install.
but its your choice... in coming days and months you gonna see more programs
having .net framework as a requisite.
