.net framework 1.1 download

I have an application that requires the .net framework 1.1 in order to run.
All I have been able to find in searching the microsoft site is the
following: patches for .net framework 1.1, .net framework 1.0
information/downloads, .net framework 1.1 redistributable package, .net
framework 1.1 SDK. I have version 1.0 installed, but need to upgrade it. I
have given up on searching for it on microsoft.com because I simply cannot
find what I am looking for. There doesn't seem to be a link that points to
just the .net framework 1.1. I resorted to searching on yahoo for and even
then I still could not find it. I have an application that needs this
program so that it will install and run. Where is the .net framework 1.1
that will work for XP Home?

You already found it; it's the "Microsoft .NET Framework Version 1.1
Redistributable Package" you're looking for. You can download it from this
page: http://tinyurl.com/4y9vv

Alternatively, you can also download it from
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
..NET 1.1 is listed under the optional updates.

The .net framework 1.1 redistributable file will NOT install because the
..net framework SDK 1.1 is not installed. The .net framework SDK 1.1 will NOT
install because the .net framework 1.1 is not installed.

The only thing in critical updates is XP SP2. In the optional updates, there
was a malicious software removal tool (which by the way did not run
automatically after installation as noted on the windows update page),
security updates for outlook express, and .net framework 1.0 SP3. The
..netframework 1.1 is not listed anywhere on the windows update site.

The application I have still won't run because I don't have the .net
framework 1.1.
 
Well, I know that I download the dotnetfx.exe file from the microsoft site
the first time and it would not install because of the problems already
mentioned. I followed the tiny url link in the first message which went to
the microsoft site. I downloaded the dotnetfx.exe file and now it installs
without any problems.

Then there's something very wrong with your system. The redistributable
definitely doesn't need the SDK.
