This may sound dumb, but from the microsoft website I have seen the
following:
Windows CE .NET
Windows CE .NET 4.2
Windows Mobile 2003

I know that CE .NET 4.2 is an upgrade from CE .NET, but is Windows Mobile
2003 an upgrade from .NET 4.2, or is it the same thing with a different
name?

Thanks,
-- John

Unfortunately, some of the things that you know are wrong.

"Windows CE.NET" is a generic form of "Windows CE.NET 4.2". It *might*
refer to 4.0 or 4.1, or it might just be generic.

"Windows Mobile 2003" is a product line name, not the name of an operating
system. Devices currently in the field in the Windows Mobile 2003 group
*are* running Windows CE.NET 4.2, with suitable extensions for Pocket PC or
SmartPhone 2003.

There are also devices out there that run Windows CE.NET 4.2 and which are
*not* Windows Mobile 2003 devices.

John,

CE.Net is the OS - you could also think of it as CE 4.2. Windows Mobile is
the brand - you could think of it as PocketPC 2003. And finally Windows
Mobile 2003 is based on CE 4.2, alhthough not all CE 4.2 machines will also
be Windows Mobile machines.

Boy do I feel enlightened.

Thanks Guys!
