Every time I shut down my computer, I see a message saying
..NET-BroadcastEventWindow is not responding. (It's the usual popup
that appears when a program is hung.) I have to click the "End Now"
button to continue the shutdown.

Does anyone know what could have caused this, or how to fix it? It is
puzzling because I have just reformatted the machine in question. I
believe it started doing this after I installed all the stuff from
Windows Update (e.g. XP sp2, .NET framework 1.1 sp1).

Steve,

I had this kind of message on my machine when I used to use RSS Bandit. Do
you have any application, created with .Net Framework, installed and which
uses socks intensively? If you have, then it might be the wrongdoer.

Never heard of RSS Bandit, but the culprit seems to be the display
driver for my ATI Radeon 9600. I switched to a different driver
version and the problem went away. :-)
