.NET 3.0 support on Win2K

Now that we know WinFX will be branded as .NET 3.0, will Microsoft port WinFX
to Windows 2000? Or we will have to wait for 4.0? (or maybe it will be 2.1?)

Anybody heard anything?

AFAIK it shouldn't change anything. IMO 2.0 is the end of the road for
Windows 2000 (and I wouldn't expect a 4.0 version to do that if 3.0 already
doesn't).

That's what I'm afraid of. Microsoft promises to support Win2K until 2010, so
our customers will try to postpone any upgrade for as long as they can. So we
have an internal conflict between providing the users with a better UI (and
maybe loosing few customers or making them spend some extra $$$s) or keeping
our customers financially happy but not using the best UI we can provide
them....

They are going to need to upgrade someday anyway so why not have them spent
the money now and stay up to date with the platforms instead of having them
be behind on the platform for a couple of years.

We just don't want to be the people who tell them they need to spend the money.
You know, killing the messenger stuff....

..NET 3.0 ?

Guess .NET is a success.

I understand that it is the same problem at a lot of customers. They always
want to wait for the first Service Release which i don't necessarely find a
good thing. Maybe if a lot of companies would do the upgrade sooner, the
first service release would come sooner as well.
