.NET 2.0 Update Issues with Norton

I uploaded the latest update from Microsoft (Microsoft .NET 2.0 - November
18, 2005) and ran Norton 1-Button Checkup after rebooting. The program
reported 10 missing program files in the .NET 2.0 directory. After repairing
them, the same errors keep coming back. What is going on here? Is Norton
wrong, or is the installation faulty somewhat?

I din't have Norton on my VPC with VS 2005, but my experince with Norton
tells me that this is a Norton problem. I could be wrong though...

I have the exact same problem. When I uninstall all .NET 2.0, then all
the problems go away. Re-install, then they come back again.

An examination of the errors shows that the specified files are
"missing". I do not know if they are required or not. If they are not
required, then the .NET installtion needs to be correct by MicroShaft.

I do not think this is a Norton problem. But I am all ears. I do not
like "errors" showing up for any reason.

OK here is how I solved the problem

The 10 problems norton reports all related to the file:

msvcr80.dll

I searched for that file and found it on my system in this
sub-directory:

C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\x86_Microsoft.VC80.CRT_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.42_x-ww_0de06acd

I then copied the file to this sub-directory:

C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727

Norton no longer reports any problems.
