Good Day Folks,

We have an .net 2.0 application that has been working reasonably well
in windows xp, we have installed our application on windows vista
business and have noticed a significant performance decrease in the
application.

Is this expected with Vista? has anyone else experienced the same
problem with their applications since migrating to Vista?

If so, can you provide links to any articles and work arounds for
this issue.

Thanks in advance.

Chris

I am afraid you are correct. Since moving to Vista everything is slower and
many things just don't work correctly. Hope you have not had problems with
VS on Vista. On my VS on Vista I have to restart about every 10 mins since
the keyboard (right side) goes nuts showing a set of non english characters.
To say I hate Vista is an understatement.

thats weird, ive been using vista for months now with no issues what-so-ever.
its been as stable as ever for me. ive also written many programs for it,
each working as i expected without performance issues or weird characters....

I have had no problems in using VS on Vista. However, the machine I use,
which I got back in 4/2007 was Vista compliant hardware wise right out of
the box.

Are you using a machine that's strong enough to run Vista reasonably?

Dual Core 3.66, 4 gigs memory etc. It is Vista Ultimate. IIS works fine
and VS works fine until the character change happens. I am in Canada and
have both languages installed but if that is a problem then ... I am
stumped.

Thanks,
LS

I have a Dual Core 1.73 with 2 gigs of memory on a HP dv9000 laptop running
Ultimate and I have no problems using VS 2005 or the Express editions.

Did you install the service pack? There is a vista specifc update for
VS.NET 2005?
