I recently installed Nero 7 Platinum to find it didn't work with Vista. Yes
it gave me a message saying it wasn't compatible but I went ahead and did it
anyway, silly me.

Anyway, it didn't work and now I want it off but it won't let me! I'm the
admin of my system, but the uninstall file seems to have corrupted (it won't
run at all) and when I tried to manually delete the folder it tells me I
don't have permission. I've disabled user access control and I'm still
having problems.

I'm running Vista Business RTM through the MSDNAA.

What I'd like is a solution that gets all the gadgetry that comes with it
off (Nero Scout in Explorer) and uninstalls the program too. Any
suggestions?

Regards,
Eric

Make sure once you do the install, do an update. There is about 90MB of
update patches to be applied.

how pathetic they have to put out a full suite of tools just to get rid of
their garbage software!
sad they couldnt write an uninstaller that does a good job!

Yes it's sad there is a 2nd uninstall tool you sometimes have to use. The
latest Nero does work great in Vista. I really like Nero for most part -
but their customer service is the worst ever. I guess being located in
Germany or wherever it is they can treat you any old way they feel.

To remove scout try this:

If you want to get rid of Nero Scout after installing Nero 7:

Paste the following into the Run dialog box:

regsvr32 /u "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\Lib\MediaLibraryNSE.dll"

Explore 'My Computer' and Scout has gone.

Or you could just download the latest version from Nero and start from
scratch.

Being that I've found their products to be excellent I've never needed
customer service.

I am on 7.5.9.0A with Vista x64. And installation fails in various places
(related to Nero's video and sound DLL registration with the registry). Not
all of the feature works but burn CD/DVD appears to work fine......

It is a pain and disappointment because it should support Vista but it still
has some way to go..........
