So it doesn't work in Vista and I can't find any reports of an update in the
works.

Any workaround for NRGs, or an alternative propram to give me a phantom CD
player?

NRG? Did you not get an ISO from Microsoft website?

Sorry.
Daemon tools?
I have not used them with Vista so will not recommend them personally, but
they are a virtual disc software?

No, ImageDrive does NOT

It is blocked "due to compatibilty issues", V 6.6.0.16.

Weird thing: Just went to check that again, and Nero had vanished from All
Programs. But an Install found it in C and put it back in All Programs.

Mighty strange . . .

Daemon tools works like a charm, and in my opinion it's much better than
Nero Image Drive (handles more formats, and is free).

We were curious about this, so we did a clean install of Vista into a
Dell Dimension 4550 (which has an "ACPI Uniprocessor" HAL under XP).
Worked fine.

Took the HD out and put it into an older Dell Optiplex P3/733 to see if
it would boot (this has the "Advanced..." HAL).

It didn't. It *did* go into the "Windows Error Recovery" screen which
implied we could "repair" Vista.

We didn't do that, but put the HD back into the 4550 and all was well.

Should we be able to do this? Or is Vista still HAL-dependent on some
level?
