nero burning slow

Hi
I have wxp sp1 all updates I use nero 5.5
to copy cds I don't remember when it started
but it use to burn super fast now it burns
slow. I also have wmp 9, and a mp3 gold maker
and to burn on the mp3 I have to set it down
to burn right. I have lite-on ltr 24x10x40 cdrw
and a sony dvd rom 16x40 can any body help.
I don't know if any body change some settings.
The kids maybe.

Nero does not like co-existing with other burning programmes. If you're
going to use it turn off the Burning ROM Service of XP (Right click on My
Computer > Manage > Services & Applications > Services > find IMAPI Burning
ROM ..... and disable it > OK or whatever then re-boot.

FYI its better and safer (less drinks mats) to burn at a lower speed. Takes
longer, sure, but who cares as you'll get less errors...... If your medium
says its 24 x then burn at 12 x.

If you really want to change the selected speed its a Registry Tweak, but
surely you don't want to go down that route ??? Re-post if you do.
