trying to instal game - system requirements advise I need 233MHz CPU speed, however the Easy Info section of the program advises that I have -1904MHz. I assune that this is a major problem! Can I do anything?

It is surely just a bug in the program you are trying to install. I
hope it does not protend future quality problems with the app.

If you are still curious about you have, right-mouse click on My
Computer, pick properties, and see what it says on the tab: "General".

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

Thanks rms for your help. It may very well be a bug in the program as the general tab in properties advises correct MHz.

I have had the program installed before and it has been working perfectly, however when installing a new expansion pack, the entire program was disabled. Even after uninstalling and reinstalling the damn thing, the program corrupts and just does not work. That's when I discovered the negative cpu speed. Perhaps there was a bug on the expansion pack?? How will I be able to rectify this now that even the basic program does not work

Really need to discuss this with the folks who developed/support the
game. Sounds like it either is shoddy work, or it will not work in XP.
Some companies don't do what's required to make their products work in
XP (then blame others when it doesn't work ... I've seen it happen).

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

rms,

Spoke to loads of people on this issue, all of which are blaming the next person. Rang EA games (makers of CD) they advised the error was in a "codec" file. We couldn't locate the audio folder or the codec file, which was thought was the problem. Copied these files from my brother (who has same hardware and running XP), however this still did not work. My brother has earlier releases of game so loaded new expansion pack onto his computer and it works a treat.

This, therefore, makes the CD and game fine and I must conclude that it is a system or hardware. We went back and forth with acer and microsoft windows supports but we are none-the-wiser.

We then backed up all the files and did a system restore to an earlier date when the game was working fine, but this did not change anything. We even went to extreme measures by trying to restore the computer using the recovery disks (taking the computer back to the way it was when we first bought it) but even this did not work.

Any hints or suggestions - thank you for helping me thus far, and sorry it took me so long to get back to you.

Stella.
