I am building a super nice system for a small company and I recommended a
nice 19" widescreen LCD monitor. The office manager wants to save a couple
hundred dollars and keep their old 17" regular non-flat screen monitor. The
video card I ordered doesn't even have a VGA plug! (I do have a DVD-I to
VGA converter)

I am going to argue for the monitor with the following reasons.

1. They have a much smaller footprint on the desk
2. It can display much more information without the need for scrolling
3. It is much easier on the eyes.
4. It does not give off radiation to scare pregnant woman

If you have any more please let me know.

With only a 19" screen, I probably wouldn't go widescreen, but just a
regular 4:3 19" LCD.

I would be very concerned about a company who hires a guy that orders a
video card with only a dvd-i input.

I'd be quite concerned that the 'super nice system' wasn't going to be
utilized in the way an office PC usually is.... a double D-Sub graphics card
is usually a high end gaming card and I'm presuming the company isn't going
to be developing and testing high end games!

A mid range D-Sub and VGA socket card would probably be more appropriate...
and take less from the budget. Leaving a little more in it for a nice 4:3
19" LCD monitor.
