Steve

hi, I have litte exp. on VB6.0 and Java back to my university life, since
then, I ve no chance to touch on programming, and I am working on networking
side stuff now. My question is where should I start in the programming
path(I hope it can related to the DBA field in the finally)? Should I learn
VB.NET or C#? Thanks

If you already have VB and Java experience, it shouldn't be difficult to
learn both.
They're very similar. The best place to start is with syntax you are a
little more comfortable with, and the bulk of the learning in .NET is really
about the Framework classes and the way CIL handles Object Oriented
Programming.
