Need your opinion on this chipped CPU

I just got this Athlon Tbird (bought on ebay):

I was disappointed when I saw that the lower right corner was chipped.
Would you be comfortable running it in your system? I've read reports
from people who have used chipped CPUs that *usually* worked but caused
bizarre behavior when performing certain operations. I'd like a CPU
that works correctly 100% of the time. I haven't tried to install it
in my system, because I still haven't gotten my motherboard back (sent
it to be recapped). But it probably wouldn't be a good idea for me to
test it anyways, because I'm talking to the seller about a possible
refund, and if I install it in my system he might think that I'm the
one who chipped it.

I don't see any chip...
I doubt if it would make a difference anyway...

If the seller 100% guarantees it...then give it a try...
but if you don't feel comfortable with it...return it!

void,

As long as the ship isn't too large or deep, it should be ok. Remember that
the outer ceramic casing of the CPU is just that.............a casing to
help dissipate heat away from the actual CPU, which sits in the middle of
the casing and is about the size of a fingernail.

Take Care,

As remarked by others, it may work just fine, YMMV..
You may want to use a graphite-based, non-conductive compound, though
the chipped corner looks quite innocent and not open to the core.

Beware when you mount it yourself. Those mobiles are quite fragile.
I chipped a 2Ghz 35w mobile myself with a ThermalRight XP90, due to it's
high tension mounts.

I chipped a T-Bird in the bottom left corner when installing an HSF
and it ran fine.

That's what I meant. The chip is on the lower right corner of the die.

If you are really paranoid about it and want a refund,
that's fine, do so.

However, the chip is so minor it is not at all likely to
have damaged the CPU or ever be a problem. That's no
guarantee the CPU is ok though, when buying a used CPU from
a 3rd party there are other things that prior owner might've
done to kill it but so far, the chip in itself is not a
reason to suspect anything.

In my case, my AMD Turionx64 was chipped off in the upper left corner. I run it to my system and it worked happily in a few minutes.but when I started to run Virtual DJ, (which makes her work 100% for a short while), there goes the catastrophe, my pc shuts down randomly. I can start my system normally but when she feels a little bit hotter inside, then she give up. For you, i can say that you are very lucky to make your pc work properly after chipping the cpu and putting her back to work like nothing happened.
