Need Win Vista Hardware advice...?

Hi,

I am student and I want to buy a future proof computer system to upgrade to
Windows vista premium.

I want advice in following devices :

1. I want to buy an Intel lga775 socket motherboard which supports Pentium 4
as well as Core 2 Duo processors. Plz advice me in cost effective terms as I
am a self earning student.

2. I want to buy a DirectX 10 compatible PCI Express graphics card with min
256 mb of video ram.Plz advice me in cost effective terms as I am a self
earning student.

Plz help me.

That's a tall order. This involves so many variables, including personal
preferences, that I'm reluctant to get involved. I'll just say that, among
the numerous motherboard vendors, Asus is one, but just one, of the top
manufacturers. I recommend that you look at their products at
www.usa.asus.com and focus on their P5B series (about 7) motherboards.

These boards are socket LGA 775, have the Intel P965/ICH8R chipset, and
support the Intel Core 2 series of processors. As for price, check the
Internet for cost and availability, after you decide on the board. I like
shopping at www.newegg.com.

When it comes to video cards, do a search at www.newegg.com on what you
want. That site has as good choices and competitive prices as you can find.
 
Nvidia just annouced a line of low-cost DirectX 10 compatible PCI-E video
cards. Try checking their web site for news. I don't know if they will be
available soon but I think that would be your best bet.
