Need Video Card Advice

I have an old Abit BE6-II v1.0 motherboard with an old Diamond Viper V770
32mb video card. The video card doesn't support some of the new games like
Call of Duty. One of my gaming buds suggested that I could find a GeForce2
for cheap somewhere. I noticed that the GeForce2's were 4x AGP, which means
it will actually run at 2x in my ABIT slot (since it's a 1x/2x slot).

Do you guys think that would work? Is there a better alternative......sans
building a new pc at this point.

THANKS IN ADVANCE

What spec is your CPU? You're not going to find much advantage in going for
a fast card if your CPU (1Ghz or below?) can't keep up. If your CPU is
around 1Ghz, I'd have a look for something like a GeForce 4 Ti4200 on eBay.
This would be a good match for your hardware, and it would still be fast
enough to be useful should you upgrade your mobo later.

I am using a P3-1000 with 512mb PC100

I'd definitely track down a 128MB GeForce4 Ti4200. I run a couple of ABIT
BE6 machines (one with a P3-1000), and the card does a fine job. My view is
the GeForce2 is on the slow side, and it wouldn't have enough onboard memory
to do a good job with current games.
