This is something the administrator needs to do. You cannot add new
entries to AD from Outlook.
I would like to know the point of Active Directory personal
information -- the stuff like home address, phone number, etc. Why is
it so walled off from applications like Outlook 2003? It seems there
is completely no point at all in entering any additional information
for my users in Active Directory (like phone number, home address,
etc) because there is no way to see this information from the nice
Contact screens in Office 2003. The only way to see the info is to
run a search on the address book, at which point a stupid dialog box
comes up showing you a subset of the information. Then you have the
choice of adding that info to your own personal contact book, but the
information no longer gets synced to Active Directory once that
happens. This is all very frustrating and I cannot see why Microsoft
has disconnected Active Directory from any use as a Contact list in
Outlook 2003. Further, this disconnect merely confuses users.
I would also like a way in which users can update some of their
personal information stored in Active Directory (so I don't have to
deal with it), but there is no way to do that either. No way to do
that in Outlook, nor additional tool. Argh.
