Here is my current configuration
Computer:
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU
E6550 @ 2.33GHz
2.33GHz, 2.75GB of RAM
Motherboard:
Nvidia 650i Ultra
Videocard:
Nvidia Geforce 8600 GT
all thrown into a silver Apevia ATX case with a 320GB HDD, 600w PS, wireless card, and an audio card.
I NEED to replace the Motherboard since none of the USB ports work on it, the bus was shorted i'm guessing, luckily the board still works ok.
Also, I NEED to upgrade the graphics card.
I'm considering replacing the case, since the short came about as a result of the front ports of the case being broken. For now though lets try and keep this under $300 and just replace the mobo/gpu.
I'm looking at a refurbished nvidia 790i Ultra mobo

and then whatever GPU's are maxed out in it, just one or two cards i'm thinking.

will this work? Is there a better/cheaper alternative to repairing/upgrading my system?? Please help me out, I know what I'm doing for the most part I just dont have all the bases covered and dont want to screw myself.
Thanks for any help!!
