Hi
I've recently had a problem with XP Home addition
(upgrade version) as it started, got as far as trying to
bring up the user select screen, then crashed and
rebooted. Non of the boot options (las known good,
safemode etc) solved this so I need to use the repair
console.
I've booted from the CD and got to the command
prompt.....but I dont know what to do here - is there a
suggested method from here on? I'd happily stop all the
device drivers and take it from there...just need to get
it running again!!
Failing that I'll rebuild, but when I investigated this I
had a few worries. My machine is dual boot. I have my
original 2gb HD which still runs Win98 (oem). I got a new
HDD, put it in, and somehow loaded XP onto the new disk.
When I've tried to re-install, I get something along the
lines of 'insert your old win 98 disk', which I cannot.
Any guidance? All thoughts and comments appreciated.
