My grandson loaded XP on his laptop and can't remember the admin password he
chose, even using his hint. Now he wants to load other software but needs the
admin password. I tried to re-install XP from his system disks but I need to
be in the admin to do this. I guess I need to wipe the C: drive first since
he dosen't have anything software on it that he needs to keep. What do you
suggest? FDISK?

Try this:

Hi Jack,

The point was that there are many admin password hacks available, just
search on it. I cannot recommend a specific one. Have your grandson create a
password reset disk next time to guard against this problem.
