My internet explorer has been causing my system to freeze very frequently. I
want to do a reinstall of the program, can someone tell me how im supposed to
be proceed wit it please. I am using Windows XP Home Edition SP2.

You cannot uninstall IE from XP, because that's way Microsoft has wanted it.
You could try to reinstall whole Windows over existing installation. But
first you should run several virus and spyware scanners. Most likely reason
for IE problems is spyware. They tend to install all sort of badly coded
components to IE and make IE to crach or otherwise behave strangely. So get
for example Ad-Aware, Spybot and Micoroft Antispyware and scan your
computer. Remember to use several scanners, because there is no single
scanner, which can detect all parasites.

What to try after you've used several scanners and the problem still exists?
I've also run Hijackthis and posted the log to the AUMHA forum for that, but
there was only one minor thing in the log, fixed that, but the problem
persists.

Download and use Mozilla Firefox instead. It is much faster, but doesn't
have all of the goodies IE has.

Well I've tried that already. I ran a couple of scans for spyware & for
viruses. They are not the problem. Ok, about the uninstallation, i just want
to reinstall internet explorer but before that making sure i remove all the
previous files, that's it.
About the windows reinstallation, would that overwrite my files for my
username, as in will everything get set to factory settings or will it just
replace my windows system files?

Screen freezes with IE are most commonly caused by video drivers that need
updating. Go to the web site of your video card manufacturer and get the
latest drivers for your card. As a work around, try turning down your
hardware acceleration, color depth, and/or screen resolution. If these
work, then new drivers are in order.

Other causes are scripting engines that need reinstalled or updated:

Or the Java VM: http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers/14.html

And, if you are using a McAfee anti-virus program, and it's set to scan all
files, try changing it to scan programs and documents only.

Well, I've updated my display driver now, i do not have any script engines
installed and neither am i using mcafee virus guard. Anway i wanted to know
if there's a way of checking if my system files have gotten corrupted and if
there's a way or repairing them? And do you know what a DCOM error is cause i
seem to be having that as a frequent error in my system event viewer.

Make sure your anti-virus is turned off and make sure you use the section
for SP2.
Jon already gave you the reference.

Though the title of that webpage is "How to Reinstall or Repair Internet
Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows XP" all it actually tells is how to
reinstall Windows XP, not Internet Explorer itself, anyone know how to
reinstall Internet Explorer?

Yeah, well that worked, i was able to reinstall internet explorer and yes it
seems to have resolved the problem.
Thanks
