In Win XP how does one Reformat the Hardrive so I
can do
a clean reinstall ? Checked in Control Panel for
making a
bootable disk, but guess that went away with Win
XP?
Thanks in advance for the help.

You need an XP installation cd (all of which are bootable) or the
recovery disks that came with your computer if you have that type of
machine.

Assuming that you don't have a machine with recovery disks, here are
clean install instructions:

First:
Have a look at www.1001solutions.co.uk/Reformatting_a_hard_disk_drive.pdf

Second:
After switching on go into CMOS settings (typically by pressing <Delete> or
<F2> during the boot-up sequence)
Change the boot drive sequence so that it boots to CD / DVD
Put Windows XP CD in tray

and it will re-format and re-install Windows XP.

You may wish to reset the boot drive sequence to hard disk first but it
doesn't matter in most cases.

Regards.

Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the
installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of boot
devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)
