Need to re-format for RAID1 on A7V8X?

I have one HDD with my OSs (dual boot) and a lot of data plus a second HDD
(same size, same model) which I want to use as a mirror for the first HDD.

How can I get my RAID1 running without formatting HDD one?

I couldn't find that information neither on ASUS's sites nor with google.

Thank you
Daniel AJ

A lot of controllers will allow you to go from a single drive connected to the
RAID controller to a RAID level 1 without reformatting. This is what my User's
manual states for my board as well. I would try and back up the data on your
current drive (for safety sake) and give it a try. The worst you would have to
do is to restore the data back to the single drive.

Thakn you for your answer. I just installed everything (you have to set
discs connected to the SATA-pins as Master) and managed to duplicate the
right drive (it's not easy if they have the are exactly same type - note,
Channel 3 is the P-ATA connector of the S-ATA-Controller, YMMV). This
duplication took very long - over an hour, although I have a decent system
with 512MB DDR-RAM and fast HDDs with 7200 rpm and 8 MB cache each.

But at least it worked and bootet wonderfully.

*happy*
