Robert

I am in a bind. I have a server with a 9G system (boot
from) volume that I need to move to a larger drive.

I thought of using something like Ghost to move it but
figured that I'd ask here before I killed the server by
trying something that won't work.

I obviously want the same SID's and everything to run like
it already does except with alot more space.

Any pointers or ideas on how to pull this off? It's a
production server too... :-( Can't afford to risk killing
it...

I've read about sysprep, but I want the same SID... I've
thought about using the backup method, but the target has
to be the same size (I believe) thus making the gain = 0...

Thanks for any assistance...

Come on people. I'm in need of some help...

Is this a good way to do it or is my question a dumb
question?

OK, I found article 249694 from another thread on this
newsgroup. It says that this method is not recommended on
a domain controller.

Well, guess what... Yep. It's a domain controller that I
need to do this bit if surgery on...

ARG!!! What works?

Is this a 'stupid question'? This is a production server
and I don't want to be hung by the neck if this doesn't
work...

well, my son successfully moved his boot from an 80Gb WD drive to a
200 Gb WD drive couple of weeks back by using a ghost image ... make
sure your drives are the same specs ... not much help with detail
though ... just thought i'd reply so you knew your emails are read :-(
if you want me to find out more then email me direct alan underscore
