need to format hard drive

hi, i want to format my c: drive but you cant when windows
is operating from it. Windows 2000 does not have a feature
were you can boot or shut down into DOS mode. Need Help
1. How to format hard drive using windows 2000
or
2. How to boot or shut windows down into dos mode

Boot W2K setup CD and perform an install.
When when the list of partitions is display, have it format C:.
Proceed for a few more screens before cancelling setup.

When you reinstall the operating system it will give you the option to
create and delete partitions, if you delete the c: partition and recreate
it you can then format it. This is the easiest way to accomplish this task.

You can also use the FORMAT command from the Recovery Console if you start
the Recovery Console from the Windows 2000 CD. For more information on
using the Recovery Console to format a hard drive see Q313672.
