I've never done anything with music on a computer and am trying to help a
friend with several issues. They lost their shortcut to some music on their
system.

What are the common file types that I can serach for so that I can find
their files and recreate a shortcut to their music?

Windows XP Search (off the Start Menu) has a built-in option to search
for music files. Chances are the music is in the "My Music" folder.

I checked there but it was empty. That's why I'm asking for the file
extensions so that I can search the complete drive.

Did you try Windows XP Search, specifying music files?

No, it looked as though I should give the search something - name or
extension - to look for. Are you saying the rest isn't necessary? I'll give
it a try.

It takes less time to try it than to post a question ... ;-)

Yes, tis true - if I had my paws on the computer - or even one with the OS!
I've passed along some very detailed instructions to the people who have the
system. They don't have a lot of computer skills. Thanks again!
