First, i don´t like the idea, i like SP2 but one of my clients must use a
critical software that (we are totally shure of this) NEVER will work with
SP2.
The problem is that the PC we must run that software cam with a preloaded
Win XP Version with SP2 so it cannot be removed.

is this a posibble solution to this?

Can we try to install SP1 in that machine? or would this destroy the whole OS?

or do we have to install an older version of Windows XP in that computer ?

Thanks a lot for your help

I doubt it will work because the OS was already at SP2 level when the OS was
installed. The rollback is available when the OS was *upgraded to* SP2 from
and earlier version of XP.

Thanks for your help, as is see it the only solution is to format the Hard
Drive instal an older version of XP and install (if needed) SP1

anyway as the hard Drive will be killed i asked the costumer to try to
install service pack 1 just to see what happens, i´ll tell you the results

thanks again

You don't need to tell us what will happen; we already know it will
fail.

As you've been told - clean install with a different licensed version of
XP SP1.

You can't revert an XP SP2 installation to SP1 if it came preinstalled,
only if it was an upgrade. Do a clean install of XP w/SP1.

Only one. Purchase (from a used software store, perhaps?) and install
a pre-SP2 version of WinXP, after formatting the hard drive.

You could try, but it'd be a waste of time. It won't work.

Either that, or learn to make the application work with SP2, which
really shouldn't be all that difficult. Why won't the application work?
